Older but Well Located.
This is an older style hotel, in a good quiet location, well maintained and clean. The hotel's position gives easy access to the harbour front. Guests found the bedroom to be spacious and comfortable, with a very large bed that was firm yet provided a good night's sleep. The en-suite bathroom was well equipped with a bath, shower and bidet.
positive:
Helpful Efficient Staff.
The staff are very pleasant and helpful, and the provision of a small fridge in the bedroom was appreciated; it contained snack items, to be paid for, but welcome nevertheless. The complimentary toiletries are amply provided, and the free Wi-Fi generally works well. There is secure payable parking in a new facility opposite the hotel. Checking out was efficient and quick.
positive:
Good Start to the Day.
The breakfast provides a generous and varied choice of dishes. An attractive feature of the Royal Plaza is the pool on the sixth floor, although small it is quiet, and provides a great view over the surroundings; there is also a paddling pool for children.
Negative Reviews
negative:
Some Noise at Night.
Guests who had a bedroom that was in front of a nightclub found that it was noisy at night, furthermore the walls between rooms are very thin. The hotel is a little dated, and rather dark.
negative:
Grumpy.
A member of staff who was at the reception desk was an exception to the general rule and proved to be extremely unfriendly.
negative:
Disappointing Gym.
There were no working machines and the equipment in the gymnasium was very poor. In summary this is an older hotel, although kept well cleaned, and pleasantly located. However guests who are seeking a bright modern environment for their stay might be a little disappointed here.
