About Royal Pier
Royal Pier is a Victorian hotel, originally built as Princess Beatrice’s summer residence, situated in Sandown on the Isle of Wight.
Each of the 65 bedrooms benefits from en-suite facilities, TV, tea and coffee-making facilities and other basic amenities. Family rooms and sea rooms are also available, as well as travel cots for infants.
The hotel has central heating throughout, and a luxury indoor heated pool and spa for guests to enjoy. Evening entertainment is available every day, and is free to hotel residents.
Two fully licensed, stocked bars are available on-site. Breakfast and dinner are served daily in the spacious dining room overlooking Sandown Bay. Special dietary requirements can be catered for upon request.
Royal Pier is centrally located in Sandown, with the main high street and town centre within very easy walking distance.

Guests comment on the staff, who seem to be helpful, polite and friendly throughout. There do not seem to be any negative reviews regarding staff, as they seem to remain professional. Waiting staff are praised for being particularly friendly, and cleaning staff are also highly praised.

Whilst reviews regarding food are fairly mixed, the general consensus seems to be that food is of a decent quality. Guests seem to be happy with the menu and choice given, and comment that specific dietary requirements are taken care of.

The majority of reviews mention the stunning location of the hotel, which is reportedly right on the sea front. Communal areas and rooms with sea views are described as lovely, and a number of guests comment that there is plenty to do and lots going on in the town.

In serious need of refurbishment.
A number of guests comment that the hotel is in serious need of refurbishment. Decor is reportedly tired and dated, to the point of worn carpets and stained walls. Beds and bedding seem to be old and uncomfortable, and showers are small, difficult to operate and generally in need of replacement.

Some guests comment that amenities offered aren’t quite up to standard. WiFi is reportedly not available in all bedrooms, and guests comment that the swimming pool closes early, preventing guests checking-in from using it that day.

A number of guests who were not given sea view rooms express their disappointment with their bedrooms. Some rooms are reportedly very small, and guests comment that rooms are overlooking the car park, kitchen extractor unit and concrete walls.
