Hotel Roc Heights Lodge (Bakau Newtown, The Gambia)

Many guests were return visitors and state that they return each year because of the location of the hotel. It is well within a few minutes' walk to the beach or restaurants, and the various activities and attractions make it a very nice holiday.

As this is a privately owned hotel the owners and staff take special pride in making sure that guests are treated well and are happy. They provide a very nice breakfast with good variety and do a very good job of keeping the rooms clean.

Every guest remarked that they loved the fact that the air conditioning was working, and cooled their rooms quite nicely. There are also ceiling fans in the rooms which assisted in keeping guests comfortable. Many guests expressed their gratefulness that this hotel's units were so up to date.

While many of the staff speak English, it is not spoken fluently, or well. Several guests were exasperated by trying to make their requests for towels or linens understood.

Many guests, while loving the overall accommodations, did mention that the showers and bathrooms in general needed some refurbishing and general maintenance. Often the water in the showers was not hot enough, and on more than one occasion there were problems with toilets.

Many guests mentioned that the outlets in their rooms either had no power, or very little power. Generators are kept at the front desk and can be requested, which guests found off putting. They felt that if management would just take a little time to correct these issues that the rooms would be very nice.
