Beautiful accommodations with historical details
Roanoke Hotel & Conference Center - Doubletree is on the historic registry, so you'll still find details from its late 1800s' origins. The blend of those features, along with contemporary touches, makes this a really lovely place. Rooms have a lot of charm, and you feel connected to the building's place in city history.
positive:
Perfectly located for easily touring the city
This is a great base for seeing the hotspots in Roanoke. Whether here for business or personal travel, or a bit of both, it's easy to get to sports' facilities, entertainment venues, museums, galleries, and local universities. Plenty is in scenic walking distance or by public transportation.
positive:
Great staff, dining, and amenities make it perfect
Staff is very friendly, and greet you with cookies upon arrival. The menu offerings are delightful, ample, and well prepared, making onsite dining a convenient plus. Having a gym and spa are also nice, or you can do one of the hotel's golf packages to add to your itinerary.
Negative Reviews
negative:
Paper thin walls let in room and hallway noise
One thing the hotel fails at is having extremely thin walls. Sounds easily vibrate, so you're apt to hear others, and they're likely to hear you. Have ear plugs, and be mindful of how even shutting a door may carry over to the next room.
negative:
Poor housekeeping lowers the expectations
It's disappointing to check in to this place and discover the room hasn't been properly cleaned or prepared. Hair, litter, and other remnants of a previous stay are evident, and should be addressed immediately.
negative:
Rooms are smaller than expected, with hard beds
The rooms are often deemed smaller than expected or promoted, even the ones at executive level luxury. Mattresses are quite firm, which don't provide a restful sleep for everyone.
