Positive Reviews
positive:
Clean, comfortable rooms with a river view...
The rooms are widely described as very clean, with a good balance of private and shared spaces in the suites for a family or group of friends. Guests also love the convenience of a full kitchen, and many find the beds exceptionally comfortable. South facing rooms offer a fine view of the river, too.
positive:
The best of both worlds...
Guests rave about the location: while the many attractions of downtown Portland are within a pleasant 20-minute walk along a riverfront trail or else easily accessible on the nearby streetcar, the overall value for money seems to compare favorably with properties closer to the core, and the area is also quieter at night.
positive:
Excellent hospitality...
The staff are widely described as friendly and helpful, with many guests pleased to offer examples of "above and beyond" gestures of hospitality and good will. The complimentary breakfast buffet is routinely described as "amazing," for the wide variety of dishes on offer; very few guests seem to walk away from the table still hungry.
Negative Reviews
negative:
Pricey parking...
The hotel offers a smallish parking garage and though some guests are annoyed by the additional charge, most choose to use it because it is difficult to find any surface parking in the city.
negative:
Too noisy for some...
Some guests in rooms closer to the freeway have been disturbed by traffic noise, and a small number have also found the air conditioning a bit loud as well.
negative:
To err is human...
Though reviews of the staff are generally very positive, a few guests have had housekeeping oversights to report, or else found the reception staff insufficiently knowledgeable about the city. Some guests take issue with the word "downtown" in the hotel's name, saying the walk into city center is too far.
