Sight-seers love the location...
Tourists love the hotel's central location because it offers a five-minute walk to the waterfront, and a ten-minute (or so) walk to pretty much every other attraction in Halifax, including the Citadel and the Public Gardens, though the latter is up a very steep hill. There are several bus stops nearby if you prefer to ride.

You won't go hungry...
Hungry guests appreciate the day to day variety in the extensive free breakfast buffet, yet like seeing certain items (such as the DIY waffles with lots of toppings) every day, including many healthy options. Guests also like the free food at the evening social hours, and note that there are tons of good restaurants very close by as well, including a couple good pubs across the street.
positive:
The comforts of home...
The rooms are widely described as comfortable and clean, with well stocked kitchen cupboards, and full-sized appliances, all particularly appreciated by extended stay travellers and families. The gym is well equipped, and the laundry room is very convenient. And last but not least, the very friendly, welcoming, and professional staff add to the overall "homey" feeling for most guests, too.

Light sleepers hate the noise...
Guests in rooms overlooking Argyle Street, home to many of the city's bars and nightlife, have found the noise to be an issue well into the wee hours on weekends, though it is less of an issue on higher floors.

Leave your big rig at home...
The on site parking garage can't accommodate oversized vehicles, and the closest public garage that can is down the hill.
negative:
No longer brand new...
Guests note that the decor and finishes, though well maintained, are a little dated. A pool is on the wish list, too.
