Enjoy the view...
Many of the rooms offer a fine view of the river, though guests not lucky enough to be assigned one of these can also enjoy it from the pool area. Guests also note that the grounds are also a great spot to watch fireworks set off over the river on the 4th of July, and the sunny breakfast room also offers a pleasant view.

Clean, pet friendly rooms...
Some of the rooms have been renovated with more modern furniture and hardwood flooring, a practical choice given the hotel's pet friendly policy. Guests generally describe these rooms as clean and comfortable, simply furnished in keeping with the hotel's price range. The microwaves and mini fridges are much appreciated too, though not every room has them.
positive:
Just across the bridge...
Guests who don't need to be very close to the beach like the hotel's quiet location, very close to the bridge leading to the city's historic downtown area, which offers many restaurants, museums, and shops. There are also a handful of restaurants within walking distance, including an IHOP for those looking for something heartier than the included continental breakfast.

Further renovations required...
Guests who stay in the rooms which have yet to be remodelled are generally unimpressed by their overall condition, noting dated decor, worn-out furniture and linens, poorly finished repairs, and a "stale" odour.
negative:
Playing it "safe"...
Some guests feel uncomfortable in the hotel due to the behaviour of fellow guests and a nearby area used by the city's homeless. The rooms have exterior doors, some of which seem to be poorly fitted.

Luck of the draw...
Though some of the hotel's front desk personnel are described as very kind, friendly, and professional, others are described as the exact opposite.
