Positive Reviews
positive:
Good city centre location
While the apartments are a bit of a walk from the beach, it
seems guests realised this before booking and it did not really concern them.
They did report that the apartments were very near the heart of Lagos'
Old Town.
They found this position to be quite convenient since many of the sights and
amenities they were looking for were well within walking distance.
positive:
Spotlessly clean
Whatever other small problems guests may have had with their apartment, its cleanliness certainly wasn't one of them. They reported that it was simply spotlessly clean when they checked in. It gave them a very good first impression.
positive:
Great view from the pool area
While guests seemed to enjoy the pool area in general, finding it refreshing to be able to take a dip after a long hot day, it seems it was the beautiful sea views from its terrace that most impressed them.
Negative Reviews
negative:
No coffee machine in the kitchens
This was a surprisingly specific, and common, complaint. A number of guests said that they really missed having a coffee machine in their apartment, since it meant they had to rely on instant. They felt it would make a great addition, and suggested that the management should include these in the future.
negative:
Reception often unstaffed
Though not mentioned very often, a couple of guests were disappointed to find reception unattended when they had issues to report or questions to ask. It seems that staff at the complex have multiple duties to perform, and reception staff often need to be away from their desk to attend to other matters.
negative:
Spotty Wi-Fi
It seems that Porta da Vila joins a long list of hotels and holiday complexes in having a much maligned Wi-Fi system. Guests mention that the signal simply isn't strong enough to reach all rooms, and that even when a connection is established the speeds are too slow to run most modern apps.
