Many guests describe their stay at the Village Royale Resort in Calangute, Goa a horrible experience. The resort is quite a distance from the main town and beaches. There are rental cars available but the charges are high. There are two pools at the resort but guests say that only the one in the front of the property is maintained in fairly good condition. The one behind is filthy with plastic bags floating in it and guests do not recommend using the pool.

The rooms are dirty and guests say that beds are very uncomfortable as they are bouncy and noisy. The sheets and covers have holes in them. The fridge not only does not work, guests say it does not appear to be cleaned for ages. The bathrooms are filthy as well with the shower tap and toilet seats broken. Water is not hot and sometimes guests also ran out of water in the bathrooms. The power often shuts off. The places outside the rooms and pool area are filthy as well with overflowing trash cans.

Guests say that the staff at the resort treats only foreign guests and the bar is also opened after midnight only to them. Many guests say that the staff expects to be tipped constantly. The service is bad and no room service is extended. Nothing is complimentary. Guests say management does not take responsibility for any issues like no water supply and does even listen to complaints.
