Positive Reviews
positive:
It’s a fantastic value.
The hotel advertises itself as being two-star, and is priced accordingly, but many guests expressed that they found the accommodations to be more in line with a three-star hotel. They found the prices of the food and drinks in the pub to be a similarly good value for their money.
positive:
The customer service is excellent.
Previous guests were very happy with the service they received at Oaklands Lodge. They found the staff to be highly personable, and many expressed that they felt the employees genuinely cared about making their experience there pleasant. Special accommodations were always made with a smile and without fuss. Everyone they encountered was highly professional.
positive:
The pub is great.
Everyone who ate or had drinks had the pub tended to agree that it was fabulous.
Negative Reviews
negative:
There’s not much nearby.
The hotel is located a little ways outside of St. Helier. It’s an excellent place to enjoy the Jersey countryside, but guests who had hoped for abundant shops, restaurants, and attractions were rather disappointed. It is located along a bus route to nearby St. Helier, and many excitement-seeking guests chose to take advantage of that. Others chose to walk the 20 minutes downhill to the town.
negative:
There’s no Wi-Fi in the rooms.
A few guests were disappointed that they could not access the Wi-Fi from their rooms. They found this to be a needless hassle, and not in keeping with modern hotel trends. Wi-Fi is accessible in most of the hotel’s common areas.
negative:
They could use a little more soundproofing.
Some guests got to know their neighbors a little too well, being able to clearly hear their conversations through the walls. Guests with the misfortune of being roomed near rowdy travellers or loud television watchers had difficulty sleeping at night.
