positive:
Excellent buffet breakfasts.
Breakfast is all about generous portions and healthy options, with a range of continental choices available. Eggs can be cooked to order on weekdays and there are gluten-free options provided. Early risers can dine as early as 5am with the 'Early Bird Breakfast'.
positive:
Peaceful, safe neighbourhood.
The hotel is situated in a peaceful and safe neighbourhood of the Salamanca District; close to many of the major Madrid attractions and within 20-minutes walk to the City Centre. The Metro Station is within easy reach and there are plenty of places to drink or dine a short stroll away.
positive:
Nice little touches.
For most guests, the hotel has got most of the essentials right; with plenty of hot water in high-powered showers, quality towels, iced water in the lobby during Summer months and a range of free toiletries provided.
Negative Reviews
negative:
Polish up on your Spanish.
Staff are, based on the majority of reviewers, professional and efficient. The only downside? Not all speak English so, if your Spanish is a little rusty you may encounter difficulties. That being said, if you know the basics you should get by just fine.
negative:
Working in the dark.
Some internal rooms offer views over a small central courtyard and, as a result, have less natural light than rooms on the front of the hotel. Internal rooms are, apparently, quieter, so the choice is yours whether you prefer a room with less noise or more light.
negative:
Lazy Sundays'; not so lazy after all.
NH Madrid Balboa run 'Lazy Sundays', where late checkout is available free of charge. Some guests have reported that cleaning staff can be noisy in the corridors in the mornings, however, regardless of the day, so you may find it difficult to lie-in on your Lazy Sunday.
