Positive Reviews
positive:
Tranquil and serene atmosphere
Guests who had booked in here for something of an urban retreat seemed happiest of all. Many described the atmosphere of the hotel as true to its monastic origins, with a sense of tranquillity that many greatly appreciated.
positive:
Excellent location
Those guests who wanted to explore a bit, rather than wait for enlightenment to descend from above, loved that they were right in the heart of Old Quebec. They said that it would have been difficult to choose a better position from which to explore the street life and nightlife of the vibrant Old Town.
positive:
Exceptionally comfortable beds
A simply remarkable number of guests reported that the beds were “out of this world” comfortable. It seems that the bed buyers here have managed to achieve the near impossible by selecting a mattress with truly broad appeal.
Negative Reviews
negative:
Room rates not very monastic
Guests who had booked one of the “authentic” rooms, which aim to pay tribute to the buildings monastic origins, were sometimes in two minds as to what to think about them. They confirmed that the rooms were indeed very sparse, but that the room rates were anything but. They seemed to feel that a sparse monastic-type room should have a much lower room rate.
negative:
The bathrooms are shared
A number of guests were clearly surprised to discover, only on arrival, that they would have to share the bathrooms with other guests. Considering the room rates charged, many felt they really ought to have had a private en-suite bathroom.
negative:
No issues reported
So far, no recent negative opinion has been expressed by guests about this hotel.
