This historical hotel offers a grand old lodge feeling with resort style amenities like miniature golf, a movie theater, pool, and arcade. The many fireplaces offer space to cozy up with a good book and just enjoy the slower pace of Mackinac Island.

The breakfast buffet is delicious, plentiful, offers many choices, and tastes home-cooked. Offerings include sausage gravy and biscuits, scrambled eggs, bacon, oatmeal, pastries, and an omelet station. It is worth the price you pay and some guests mention getting packages with breakfast included.

Some rooms require a bit of a hike to reach them along with climbing several stairs. This can be a problem for some guests, so be sure to check the location of your room before you arrive.

This is an older hotel and not all rooms have been recently updated. Some rooms have a stand alone air conditioner unit that is very noisy and does not adequately cool the rooms, especially on very hot days.

For the most part, this is a quiet hotel, but as with all older hotel buildings, floors can be quite creaky, so you may hear your neighbors moving around above you. If this will be bothersome, be sure to pack some earplugs or a white noise machine.
