The majority of guests were pretty impressed with the continental breakfast. They were clearly happy to find that it included not just the usual breads and cereals, but also hot items like biscuits and gravy.

Guests really seemed to appreciate these two amenities - perhaps even more than the TV’s. They liked that it was easy to keep their cold drinks nice and cool and also that they could heat up a quick snack before settling down to watch a movie.

One of the first things guests mentioned in their reviews was that the staff were a joy to deal with. They found them incredibly friendly, and possessing the qualities that made them very easy to approach when they had a question or issue to report.

A large number of guests reported finding cleanliness issues in the hotel. Sometimes they were in the public areas and sometimes in the rooms. A very common complaint was that the carpets were not only stained but also noticeably dirty. Guests felt that they would probably need to be replaced.

Many guests reported having trouble with noisy neighbors. But it was not only noisy neighbors that were the problem. Guests mentioned that even normal sounds, like people talking and TV’s playing at reasonable volume, could be heard from adjacent rooms.

A number of guests speculated that the “Micro” in Microtel must refer to the very small rooms. Single travelers generally found the rooms to be small but bearable, while those traveling as couples typically felt they were much too small for comfort.
