Great Harlem spot near transit
Situated on car-free Sylvan Terrace, the inn is a surprisingly discreet location in the middle of vibrant Harlem. From it, you'll be within walking distance of Morris-Jumel Manor and a branch of the New York Public Library, as well as close to the subway and points beyond.
positive:
Terrific alternative lodgings
If you're looking to avoid the carbon copy hotel and motel chain experience, you've come to the right place. Set in a charming old building, the inn offers unique décor, personalized service, and a new perspective on the Big Apple.
Negative Reviews
negative:
Not ideal for couples or families
Most guests have been charmed by the host and the housing. However, some of them also caution those travelling with families and even some couples that rooms are small, the inn is very quiet, and accommodations might not be ideal for more than a solo traveler.
negative:
Shared bathrooms
If you're used to showering or using the bathroom in complete privacy, the Michael NY Bed & Breakfast might not be a little off-putting. However, if you don't mind sharing facilities, staying here shouldn't be a problem.
negative:
Could use a slight refit
While the majority of guests who stayed at the inn found it to be comfortable and bright, some visitors felt there were a handful of minor issues. But a bit of chipped paint, an older bed or two, and trouble connecting to the Wi-Fi weren't enough to disturb their stay in a major way.
