Meliá Santiago de Cuba is a beautiful property. It has a lovely, spacious lobby and lobby bar with a grand piano; a real bonus, it’s open 24 hours. Guestrooms are large, clean and comfortable with beautiful views of the city and mountains. The minibar is well stocked with cold beverages, which is very much appreciated in such hot weather!
While the hotel isn’t located centrally, it’s easy to locate and very close to the city centre. Due to its location and size, it offers lovely scenic views. There are plenty of taxis out front to take you into town and sightseeing and free parking if you rent a car. Additionally, there are many dining options; the Italian restaurant is tasty, the buffet offers a wide selection, and room service and drink prices are very reasonable. Worth noting, views from the top floor Bello Bar are stunning. Another bonus is the large pool area and separate children’s pool. There are other services offered, including a pharmacy, a number of small shops and a money exchange, which add to the overall positive experience.
Staff at the front desk and in guest services is friendly and polite, always smiling and attentive so that your stay is enjoyable.
You have to pay for Wi-Fi and even then, it’s slow at best. The lobby is your best bet to get service.
The hotel is dated and needs a refresh. Rooms are Okay but need some TLC, especially the bathrooms.
