Many guests were pleased with the graciousness of the staff at the Markree Castle. The staff are reportedly warm and welcoming, with efficient and friendly service from reception and housekeeping. The hotel is also dog-friendly, and the staff reportedly go out of their way to make sure the pets are made to feel welcome, as well. Guests express that the treatment of their dogs is also in keeping with the comfortable atmosphere of the hotel.

The Markree is part of a 500-acre estate. Guests have raved about the landscaping of the grounds and the natural surroundings of the castle. There are reportedly quite a few walking trails around the gardens and river, as well as horse stables and other outdoor activities, such as paddling the river. It has even been reported that the views are wonderful in winter months, too.

Guests have reported that the windows of the castle are in need of a deep cleaning.

Some guests have been disappointed with the speed of service in the on-site restaurant. It has been reported that there is not enough staff for the hotel, and this is apparently reflected in the slow delivery of meals.

There are reportedly quite a few stairs guests must climb in order to stay at the Markree. This is apparently even the case for a first-floor guest room, so if a member of your party is less than able to walk around a good bit and climb stairs, this could be an issue.
