Positive Reviews
positive:
Great food all round
Guests clearly enjoyed their dining experiences during their stay. To start the day, the complimentary breakfast was said to be especially good, with a fantastic selection to choose from. For the remaining meals, the buffet at The French Quarter Restaurant & Bar and the light meals and burgers at Café Orleans both received a great deal of praise.
positive:
Excellent onsite casino
Most guests had come for the casino, and were eager to try their hand at a few games. They mentioned that the casino was especially attractive with all the slots, table games and others that they were looking for. The dog track was a particular highlight for many.
positive:
Good location
Guests liked the location for two reasons. Firstly, it was quite close to an interstate exit, and so easy to find when first arriving. Secondly, those who had business or other engagements in Charleston found it to be very easy to get to from the hotel.
Negative Reviews
negative:
Unhappiness with the room rates
A surprising number of guests reported being unhappy with the ultimate room rate they were charged. Either they found a price online that the hotel would not match when they arrived in person, or found later that they could have gotten a better rate at a third party booking site.
negative:
Walls are “paper thin”
Many guests reported that they could easily hear sounds from adjacent rooms, even normal ones like people talking. Others mentioned that the doors tend to slam closed, creating even more noise. It did not make for a peaceful night.
negative:
Rude and uninterested staff
There were far too many guests complaining about rude or indifferent staff members for comfort. Guests felt that they were not being heard by certain staff members who did not behave in a professional manner.
