Hotel Malabar Inn (Georgetown, Malaysia)

The staff at Malabar Inn are very helpful indeed. They seem to genuinely care about the enjoyment of their guests and will go out of their way to assist. They'll give you tips on what to do in the local area and will help organise your onward travel when you leave.

You can help yourself to complimentary drinking water, tea and coffee in the reception area, which is welcome after a day of sightseeing.

While the hotel is in a pleasingly quiet area, it is still close to several places you will want to visit. Many attractions are within a 15 minute walk, including Little India, Armenian Street, Leong San Tong Khoo Kongsi and Pinang Peranakan Mansion. There are places to eat and drink close by as well and the bus stop is conveniently placed if you want to venture further.

Some of the guestrooms at Malabar Inn are rather on the small side. What's more, the walls seem to be fairly thin, meaning you can often quite clearly hear the people in neighbouring rooms. Previous guests have also stated that they found the lack of power points to be a problem, as well as the fact that the sockets available were not conveniently positioned.

The Wi-Fi here can be somewhat temperamental. Sometimes it works and at other times it doesn't at all. This can be quite frustrating if you are trying to research things to do on your trip.

Some of the guestrooms at this property don't have windows, which can obviously make things rather gloomy.
