Hotel Maars Resort (Zanzibar City, Tanzania)

Every day the hotel organises boat cruises to Paradise Beach on the far side of the bay. These trips are free of charge and the boat staff are very professional and friendly. Paradise Beach is a great location to spend your day swimming and exploring.

All of the rooms at this hotel face out through the tropical gardens and down onto the white sandy beaches and crystalline waters of the Indian Ocean. The beach is shaded by tall bending coconut trees and there are many monkets hanging around.

The Wi-Fi at this hotel is very easy to access and it is available all over the resort, inside and out. The signal is quite strong and fast, you do not get kicked off as more people start using it. The Wi-Fi is free on all devices at ll locations.

The ocean currents on this side of the bay are quite strong and so the ocean withdraws quite far back during low tide. Some guests found that this made it difficult for them to swim. Although this was an issue for some, many enjoyed the expansive beach for sporting activities.

Some parts of the hotel aer not cleaned to the extent which many guests would expect. The showers are a little mouldy and certain areas of the hotel smell musty.

Although the location of this hotel offers peace and relaxation, some guests commented that the hotel was a little too far out. There are no restaurants and bars within walking distance of the hotel and so you have to catch a taxi into the neighbouring Stone Town if you wish to eat at different restaurants.
