Positive Reviews
positive:
Comfy beds and beautiful decor.
Lonsdale House offers top brand beds for guests, and this hasn’t gone unnoticed by many reviewers who said they had a comfortable stay and slept well. There was also praise for the stylish antique furnishings in bedrooms.
positive:
Welcoming and attentive staff.
Plenty of guests paid tribute to the friendly and attentive welcome from the staff during their stay; so much so that there are lots of visitors who indicated they would happily book again.
positive:
Excellent village location.
Just five minutes’ walk from the bustling village centre, Lonsdale House appears to be in a handy location for taking strolls by the lake or exploring nearby shops and attractions. For some reviewers, the location was perfect for exploring the wider Lake District and its majestic natural scenery.
Negative Reviews
negative:
Noise can bother light sleepers.
Lonsdale House faces the main road into the village. Therefore, some reviewers encountered problems with occasional traffic noise disturbing their sleep. If you are a light sleeper, one remedy can be to take a room facing the back which guests generally found to be quieter. A minority of reviewers also referred to other late night noises like creaky floorboards and noisy plumbing.
negative:
Difficulty connecting to Internet.
There is Internet access guests can use in public areas. However, some guests hoping for full Wi-Fi access in their rooms were left disappointed due to reports of a weak signal not reaching the top floors. In any case you may have more success picking up the network if you stay nearer the ground floor.
negative:
Minor cleanliness grumbles.
A few reviewers have mentioned some minor cleanliness issues which were not to their liking. These include finding fluff on radiators, carpet stains, mould in bathrooms and dust on some of the décor. Nevertheless, most guests appeared to be satisfied with the standard of cleaning during their stays.
