Positive Reviews
positive:
Handy Long Beach location.
The Long Beach location of this hotel was very appealing to many guests, since it put them within walking distance of the beach promenade, the Long Beach Convention & Entertainment Center, and good dining and nightlife possibilities. Furthermore, there is a grocery store nearby and the hotel is said to be handy to all the area's other attractions, as well as The Queen Mary and the cruise ship terminal.
positive:
Free Wi-Fi and parking.
Those who stayed were happy to find that the hotel offers free Wi-Fi and free parking, and taking into account the decently-sized rooms, the overall value for money offered by a stay here was thought to be decent by some guests.
positive:
Friendly staff, on-site dining possibility.
The staff here was generally thought to be friendly and professional — although a few guests reported experiencing less than accommodating service during their stay. Additionally, there is a restaurant on site offering convenient breakfast and lunches, for those who do not feel like venturing out to eat.
Negative Reviews
negative:
In need of updating.
A fair number of those who stayed at Long Beach Travelodge said the hotel's rooms were in clear need of updating, and reported carpets stained with age (and who knows what else), as well as furniture and furnishings thought to be in need of replacing. Furthermore, they occasionally opined that the electrical fittings were in need of some maintenance.
negative:
Cleanliness and value.
While some found the standard of cleanliness to be fine, others thought the overall room cleanliness could have been much better and a handful of guests reported finding a few bugs like roaches during their stay. For this reason, and the need for updating, a small number of guests felt a little ripped off for what they thought was an inferior experience for a high price.
negative:
Some bad smells.
If you are unlucky, you may experience some lingering bad smells in your room — as a handful of Long Beach Travelodge guests have done in the past. People said these were musty, or stale smoke smells, even if the particular room had been described as a non-smoking facility.
