Hotel Lodge at Palmer Gulch (Hill City, USA)

Guests really liked the location of the resort. They mentioned that it wasn’t simply a great place when visiting Mount Rushmore, which is a few miles away, but that it was a great base for exploring the whole Black Hills area.

Guests mentioned that the staff were very friendly and helpful, but what seemed to impress them even more was that they had a great attitude to their work. It immediately seemed to put guests in a better mood.

Guests didn’t feel they really needed to leave the resort at all during their stay, with the exception of seeing the sights of course. They said that there were so many shops and great places to eat that their needs could be well met right at the resort.

Several guests mentioned that not only was the Wi-Fi at the lodge almost unusable, they couldn’t even get a cell phone signal in the area. This resort would suit those looking for a real break from the always-on connected world beyond.

Guests were left in no doubt that they were a bit removed from civilization. Several mentioned that the tap water in their room was brown. They said they had to let it run for quite some time before it cleared up.

Several guests mentioned being unhappy with the cleanliness of their room at check-in. The problems were varied, ranging from sticky floors to moldy bathroom walls, but whatever the problem, it did not give them a good first impression.
