The star attraction for the guests seemed to be the city itself. By being at its centre, Locanda Cairoli offered guests the opportunity to explore the city on foot, without having to deal with long train or metro rides.
Set in the heart of the ancient city, Locanda Cairoli Hotel offers guests simple but elegant accommodation in a small property close to the Pantheon. Locanda Cairoli has just 15 rooms, each individually and lovingly decorated with antique pieces and original artwork. Each features air conditioning, minbar, TV, in-room safe, hairdryer and telephone. This is a small property, and there are limited public amenities, but reception is available 24 hours and can assists with information and bookings. Also, there is free Wi-Fi available throughout. A basic buffet breakfast is served every morning, while for other meals the culinary centre that is Rome beckons beyond the doors. Reception staff will be happy to offer dining recommendations. Many of Rome’s attractions are well within walking distance. The Pantheon is 600 yards away, and the Coliseum just 1.1 miles. The Vatican and St. Peter’s is 1.2 miles to the west.

Surprisingly perhaps, there were many positive guest comments related to the breakfast. It is taken in a small room and was said to be varied and more than sufficient to see guests through to lunch.
A large number of guests say something to the effect that the star rating is grossly exaggerated, and this in turn causes prices to be inflated far beyond what they feel the property deserves. It's fair to say that many guests believed they received very poor value for money.
On many sites, including the hotel's official page, it is listed as a four star property. Perhaps guests from various countries have different expectations regarding what a particular star rating means, but several guests are completely adamant that the hotel is not really a four star hotel.
The hotel is described as being right on a busy tram route, and whenever a tram passes it creates both noise and vibrations in the rooms nearby. There are some rooms a bit further away, so light sleepers should perhaps try to secure one of these.
Going by guest comments, it seems clear that rooms sold in the same class can vary quite a bit in size, leaving those allocated a particularly small room extremely unhappy.
