While guests did find that the staff extended a warm welcome, and were generally very friendly, it seemed it was their helpfulness that really impressed. Several guests mentioned that they received especially good advice or recommendations from the reception staff regarding nearby amenities.

Aside from the convenience of being really close to the highway, guests specifically mentioned Rice University ad the Texas Medical Center. It seems quite a few guests needed to be at one of these institutions, and found the hotel to be well placed for this purpose.

Unusually for hotel reviews, the verdict on the beds was pretty much universally positive. Many guests found them to be exceptionally comfortable - even more comfortable than their beds at home.

It was hard to find much said about the breakfast that was good. At best it was described as “OK”. The problem seemed to be that there was not enough variety for even easy going guests to be able to create a breakfast they really enjoyed.

While not often mentioned, it was reported that the parking was “tight”. Both in the sense that it was difficult to maneuver around the parking lot; and also in that it was sometimes hard to find a free spot when returning from one's travels.

Many guests said that, while it didn't really affect the function of the room, the décor was looking a bit tired. They felt it needed a bit of a refresh, at least, if the hotel was to remain competitive.
