In a convenient position
Though some distance from the center of Thousand Oaks, guests nevertheless really seemed to like the location. The proximity of the highway was said to make traveling around the area very easy, and guests mentioned that places as distant as Malibu could be accessed relatively easily from the hotel.

Though it was only a simple continental affair, guests really seemed to enjoy the breakfast. Having it available certainly prevented them from having to seek out a restaurant early in the morning, when they would rather be getting on with their day.

While only mentioned by a few, it seems that they were very happy with the reliability and speed of the hotel's Wi-Fi.

Smoke-free rooms smelled of smoke
A simply incredible number of guests mentioned that they booked a non-smoking room, only to be presented with a room that had obviously just been occupied by a smoker on check-in. Sometimes staff would be in denial and sometimes they would be disinterested in remedying the situation, making an already bad situation that much worse.

Problems with staff attitude
Unlike most hotel reviews, it was hard to find any kind words for the staff in the guest reviews. Guests paint a picture of an inexperienced staff contingent who are indifferent at best and sometimes even actively rude.

While they weren't described as tiny, it was clear that many guests were disappointed with the size of their room. Those who had previously stayed at other La Quinta properties reckoned they were definitely smaller than they were used to.
