The Texas shaped waffles
La Quinta is well known, and loved, for its unique waffle machines, where guests get to make their own piping hot waffles at breakfast time. Guests were even more charmed than usual by these in this case, since the hotel's waffle maker patriotically delivers waffles the shape of the lone star state.
positive:
Convenient location close to the I-10
Of course almost all guests were arriving by car, often after a long trip. They were very satisfied to find the hotel just a very short distance from the exit. It made finding it the first time that much easier.
positive:
Nice indoor pool
While they certainly didn't describe it as especially fancy, it seems guests nevertheless appreciated having the pool, and especially the hot tub, available. Both were said to be great to help deal with the stresses of the day.
Negative Reviews
negative:
Problems with the pet-friendly policies
Like other La Quinta properties, this one is exceptionally pet-friendly. Some felt that was all good and well for those traveling with their pets, but that it also created serious issues. Among these were smelly rooms on check-in, damaged/chewed furniture and noise problems with dogs barking, even well-behaved ones.
negative:
Exceptionally basic breakfast
Aside from the waffles, it was hard to find a kind word written about the breakfast. Quite a number of guests found it to offer too little variety to be really satisfying. Diabetics and those on low-carb diets felt there was pretty much nothing on offer for them at all.
negative:
Toilet too low on the ground
While this wasn't a general complaint, more than one guest commented that they thought the toilets were too close to the ground, making them awkward to use, even for able bodied people.
