The breakfast is an additional highlight of staying here. Eggs come from the resident hens, and a lot of the other components are homemade using ingredients grown on the property, or from local businesses. Having a meal like this feels like being pampered by a beloved family member, and is a welcomed addition to the ambiance.

The owners of Kexby House are wonderful to deal with, to chat about the area, the history of the inn, and anything else that crosses your minds. They present you with sherry and homemade cake upon check-in, and attend to any requests you have that may affect your stay, such as an earlier departure or later arrival.

These are rooms that are more than what's expected, for the pricing. Beds are snugly, décor lovingly blends modern and Victorian touches, and the atmosphere is more of a luxury accommodation than a moderately priced inn. Everything from fixtures and little details have been attended to, leaving you with holiday lodging that encourage returns, as well as telling your friends.

A minor grievance, but nevertheless, not all guests are comfortable with being seated together for breakfast. Although the style may be befitting to the location and character of the inn, the option of separate tables would be appreciated.

You have to use a microwave to heat up or cook food, if staying in the cottage. An oven or even just a hob would be better, and further add to the value.
