Positive Reviews
positive:
Good location near the beach
This was by far the thing that guests liked most about the Jorge I. The beach is described as mere moments away, and of course guests spent a large portion of their day just there. No guest seemed to mind that the hotel wasn't right on the beachfront strip, and most go on to say that there were lots of cafes, restaurants and bars in the immediate neighbourhood.
positive:
The swimming pool on the roof
Though it was also mentioned that there was no real place to sit up there, guests did enjoy the small rooftop pool. It has great views of the sea, and they were perhaps surprised at its presence in a budget hotel.
positive:
Friendly and engaged staff
Several guests mentioned that the staff were not only welcoming and friendly, but also that they seemed really engaged, and never too preoccupied with their own affairs to be able to help guests.
Negative Reviews
negative:
Extremely basic rooms
Guests did realise they had booked a budget hotel, but thought that the rooms were too basic, even for a hotel in that category. Some guests explained that by “basic” they meant that there was little thought that had gone into the decor, and not much to catch the eye.
negative:
Restaurant has limited off season hours
Specifically, it was mentioned that the restaurant wasn't open for dinner in the off-season, which some guests found inconvenient. Guests travelling in he off-season will have to seek out a good restaurant for dinner in the streets outside.
negative:
Very weak breakfast
It was hard to find a guest who had anything positive to say about the breakfast. It was described as inadequate, in both taste and quantity, and several guests simply avoided it and took their breakfast at local cafes.
