The hotel represents a solid value for its central location. Guests commented that most other downtown establishments are considerably costly, and many were able to get last-minute bookings here when none were available elsewhere.

Located a stone’s throw from the Missouri River and within walking distance to many businesses and cultural landmarks, the hotel is a good base for exploring Sioux City. Visitors especially enjoyed the large number of highly-rated restaurants in the area.

The employees at the front desk received high marks from reviewers. The reception staff was described as warm, helpful, accommodating, and willing to do what they could to solve any problems that arose.

Many guests were unhappy to discover unkempt rooms with unmade beds, stains on the linens and carpets, dirty bathrooms, and messes left by previous occupants. Questionable hotel practices like leaving trash bags in hallways only added to the overall feeling of uncleanliness.

Along with cleanliness issues, the hotel building is rather run-down and in need of repairs. People noted maintenance issues like dingy furnishings and faulty fixtures, and some added that although the hotel is under renovation, there appears to be little progress.

A number of visitors had an unpleasant experience with other tenants. Drinking, cursing, loud noises, and even fights were reported by several reviewers who were not happy that the hotel did little to curtail this behavior.
