Staff reportedly did their best to ensure a good stay for all at Howard Johnson Plaza Hotel - Ocean City Oceanfront, helping to foster a friendly atmosphere with their can-do attitude.

This hotel's prime location a stone's throw from some of Maryland's best-loved Atlantic Ocean beaches and just off Ocean City Boardwalk proved popular with vacationers. It was within easy walking distance of theme parks, fishing charters and entertainment. There were also plenty of dining and options in the surrounding blocks.

The rooms were reportedly straightforward but lived up to most guests' expectations for the often affordable prices they paid. Guests said they liked that the rooms were clean, well-maintained, smoke-free and well-equipped with microwaves, fridges, coffee-makers and flat-screen TVs as standard. However, some critics commented that certain rooms were too compact. There was also praise for the superb ocean views on offer in selected rooms. Perks like the free parking and complimentary Wi-Fi were another plus for budget-conscious reviewers.

Although many reviewers welcomed the free Wi-Fi service and said it was usually reliable, there was occasional criticism. It was claimed the network offered patchy coverage and slow speeds in some rooms.

Reviewers mentioned that on the cleanliness and maintenance front there were occasional issues. For example, a few swimmers said the indoor heated pool and hot-tub would benefit from modernization. Cleanliness issues reported by some critics included bathrooms that were insufficiently cleaned, dirty windows, build-ups of dust and unsatisfactorily cleaned fridges and microwaves.

Despite many visitors saying their stays were fairly peaceful, noise was reportedly an issue for light sleepers in certain rooms closest to the elevators.
