The hotel opened in 2016, and its first wave of travellers are describing the rooms as super clean, comfortable, and spacious by big city standards, with modern furniture and "beautiful" decor. The full kitchens are widely considered a big plus, and the suite layout is particularly popular with young families on vacation.

The myriad monuments of the National Mall are about 20 minutes away on foot, though guests are also quick to point out that there are two Metro stations within a shorter walk. The Verizon Centre, Chinatown, and the Convention Centre are also close by, and few guests fail to mention the 24-hour Safeway right across the street from the hotel. There's a Starbucks in it, and a public parking garage to boot if you don't fancy valet parking.

Guests rate the hotel highly in terms of value for money, commenting that the in-room amenities and "freebies" (Wi-Fi, breakfast, and the evening social) compare favourably with some properties closer to the tourist attractions, and the gym is well equipped. Friendly, helpful service at the front desk adds to the overall positive experience for many guests, too.

Recent travellers have noted that the staff are currently "working out the kinks" of the new building, so minor maintenance concerns are not uncommon, including trouble with the air conditioning system.

The breakfast buffet is currently earning mixed reviews, with some guests concerned about the quality and/or quantity of the food, or else describing the scene as a bit "disorganized."

Recent guests have also reported frustrating booking or billing errors, noting that some of the staff are "in training."
