No 'Russian Roulette'.. all the staff are great!
The check in area is welcoming, as are the front desk staff. Very helpful and efficient. They'll go out of their way to accommodate specific requests - such as, perhaps, a quiet room. If there's an error or query, they'll over compensate, so you feel that you are receiving true value.

Everyone wins with this impressive location.
There are some really nice restaurants nearby, in this city center location. Ford Field is an easy walk away.

Rooms are a safe bet.
Well decorated and furnished, the rooms are spacious and welcoming. Views over the city are to die for; beds are comfortable with bed linen that's of real quality. If only you could find it in the shops; it would be a real self treat to take home.

Keep a poker face: opt for the valet parking!
Parking is free but, for the visitor, it's difficult to find and to navigate. Very stressful! For a trouble free experience, the solution is to go for the hotel's valet parking service. On the topic of staff, they seem to be thin on the ground, particularly in the lobby.
negative:
Drawing the short straw with rooms.
Some rooms are sub-standard with broken drapes and surprisingly low standards of cleaning and maintenance of furnishings. Air conditioning isn't up to the job.

Best bet is to get a cab.
The shuttle service is slow and cumbersome. So, if you're off to a function or to see a concert where there is a clearly stated starting time, it's best to ditch the shuttle in favour of a cab.
