The Historic Downtowner Inn & Suites in Bakersfield is found convenient by guests for its central location and proximity to the court house. It is also close to the freeways and guests find it easily accessible to tourist places in addition to eateries.

Parking facilities of the hotel are found very handy by several guests as it is right outside the hotel. Guests can just get out of their parked car and walk into the reception. Guests say that the front desk staff is amazing and the managers of the hotel accommodating to their needs and concerns.

Guests like the spacious courtyard access from the second floor rooms. They like the breakfast provided by the hotel, and the pool is found great by them, though they say that they would have liked the water to have been warmer.

Many guests say that the facility is old and dirty. They found the room carpets filthy and walls dirty. The furnishings like wooden cabinets where the televisions are placed on had broken, and doors had come loose. Chair upholstery was ripped. The televisions are old and small. The small refrigerators were not even plugged in and not maintained well either. Air conditioners are noisy.

The bathrooms have low showers and guests have a problem with adjusting the water temperature; either it is freezing cold or boiling hot. Toilet seats are shaky as well and the towels provided are stained.

As the rooms face the main road guests are constantly disturbed by the traffic sounds. The windows cannot be closed completely, there are huge gaps between panes and the glass is thin with no insulation allowing noise to permeate.
