Hotel GrandStay Residential Suites Rapid City (Rapid City, USA)

It’s very handy for visiting a number of attractions, including the famous Black Hills. It’s on the edge of town so the location feels much safer than the more central areas.

Members of staff are very friendly, attentive and knowledgeable about the area’s many attractions. Everything appears to run like clockwork and the rooms are particularly clean and well maintained. Check in is quick … rapid! A nice feature is that, in addition to your own coffee maker, free coffee is available in the breakfast area at all times. Breakfast, itself, is impressive; lots of choice and very appetizing. The pool is nice + tidy; maybe the surrounding tiled area is a bit slippery, though.

Rooms are generously proportioned and contain everything you need for a long or short stay. Everywhere, including the bathroom, is very clean. Families in particular will note that two bedroom accommodation here is approximately the same price as one bedroom accommodation elsewhere.

There’s something of a plumbing problem because the shower is slow to drain away and water backs up at a quite alarming rate.

The gymnasium/fitness room is tiny  and overcrowded, even with the limited amount of equipment that’s in there.

Barking dogs are a problem and certainly not conducive to a good night’s sleep. Sometimes the guest makes a mistake with the booking or circumstances alter. A flexible attitude on the part of the hotel would be good PR and encourage return visits. This doesn’t happen. The excessively strict policy is … barking mad!
