Positive Reviews
positive:
Wonderful location.
Guests said that it was a pleasure to stay here based on the location. There were plenty of good restaurants a few steps away, and a supermarket and farmer's market were easily accessible. It was also possible to get to top spots Sugar Loaf Mountain and the Christ the Redeemer statue in about a 30-minute drive.
positive:
Pleasant staff.
Staff were a friendly bunch, and whenever there was a problem, guests said that they promptly dealt with it. Helpful staff can make or break an enjoyable visit, and guests were certain that you will only encounter smiling faces here.
positive:
Restaurant a delight.
Guests really liked the in-house restaurant, and recommended it if you are in the mood for cuisine that draws its flavours from a variety of countries, including India, China and Vietnam. Breakfast was also a standout feature, with many guests raving about the delicious offerings.
Negative Reviews
negative:
Rooms stuck in the past.
While it seems that some rooms have been renovated or a full scale renovation is imminent, most rooms have seen better days. Basic, dated bathrooms and decor that was begging for a refresh were a disappointment to guests who were otherwise satisfied with their visit.
negative:
Fitness centre needs improving.
Just as rooms were outdated, the gym was also in need of a makeover. Guests said that the small space and older equipment did little to inspire them to exercise.
negative:
Hard to beat the heat.
Several guests said that a lack of complimentary bottled water and poor air-conditioning was a bad recipe for perspiration. On hot summer days, you might find yourself avoiding your room, and you may want to plan accordingly.
