Clearly, many guests staying at Gelenborrodale came in with some preconceptions about exactly how life in a castle should look and feel. Going by their comments, it seems as if they were actually shocked that reality was quite a lot like their fantasies - except perhaps in the question of coldness and draughtiness, notorious castle stereotypes. Guests were glad to report that they were toasty at all times.
It was very difficult to find any poor reviews of the food. The castle makes a point of procuring the best Scottish meat, game fish and produce possible, and according to the guests the castle's chefs have made good use of these to create dishes that really impress.
Again and again guests mention the incredible views over the estate from their rooms. Some even mention that their bathroom had a spectacular view. With the commanding views over the countryside (and potential attackers) guests are left in no doubt as to why the original builders built were they did.
