What an atmosphere!
Guests who appreciate authenticity and good old fashioned charm just love this traditional hotel, despite its little flaws (and thin floors)! The oak-beamed restaurant, is the “pièce de résistance” and its warm, old-world ambiance has to be seen to be believed!
positive:
Great stop-over location
Many guests find the hotel an ideal stop-over en-route to the Channel ports - especially with its secure parking. It is also a charming and quiet place for a short-break just metres from the town centre, with its shops restaurants and bars.
positive:
Comfortable and spacious rooms
Guests find the rooms are nice and spacious and the beds are very comfortable and large too.
Negative Reviews
negative:
The food is disappointing
They say the first taste is with the eye. With such an appealing, warm-looking traditional restaurant, your taste-buds will be sent into overdrive. However, many guests feel let down when the food does not live up to their great expectations. Several guests find it to be adequate at the very most, but certainly not for what they were hoping for. Some guests, however, didn't even get the chance to try it out as the restaurant closes officially on a Sunday night and has been known to close on other nights including Saturday.
negative:
Poor choice for breakfast
Breakfast was also a bit of a let down for many guests. The choice is pretty limited with no fresh fruit. What's more, a lot of them find it incredibly expensive and not worth it.
negative:
Parking charges
Many guests are delighted to learn that the hotel offers secure off-street parking. For some, the rates are seen as reasonable, for others it is far too expensive for what it is - especially as the places can be pretty tight and not protected against the elements!
