Hotel Days Inn & Suites by Wyndham Union City (Union City, USA)

It’s on the SW side of Atlanta; off 1-85 and outside the 1-285 bypass, so it’s easily located. Crucially, the hotel is on a bit of a hill, so it perches above the busy street and away from much of the noise. Restaurants, gas … and the airport, are all within easy reach. You don’t really need a car here. Many facilities are walkable and the local bus service is cheap, reliable … and only 400 yards from the hotel.

They all appear very pleasant. Many of the front desk staff seem as if they were born to do this job; reacting as they do in a positive manner to queries and problems – and solving them without the blink of an eye.

They’ve obviously undergone some recent updating. Rooms are really very smart and attractive. They tend to be spacious too. Breakfast is good and plentiful.

Apart from the apparent absence of any sound insulation, much of the incessant noise problem is down to the inconsiderate behavior of other guests.

OK, so they get missed when preparing the room for incoming guests; no problem. It’s when you report the situation to the front desk -and they still aren’t supplied- that you wonder if the hotel has any stock of towels at all.

Air conditioning doesn’t work to full capacity. It’s not broken, but it isn’t as effective as it should be. WiFi is a bit suspect too.
