Convenience was one of the things guests liked most about this hotel. Within walking distance of public transportation,s hops and restaurants and just a short drive from the Yale campus, the location met the needs of almost everyone.

Guests generally found the accommodations satisfactory, rooms were described as clean, adequate and restful and some guests commented on the new and very comfortable mattresses.

While the Days Inn New Haven is an older hotel, renovations are underway and guests felt it offered reasonably good value and was an acceptable alternative to similar but more expensive hotels closer to the Yale campus. The complimentary breakfast sealed the bargain for some.

Although some guests described the staff as pleasant and helpful, others reported rude and surly behavior by those at the front desk. Guests complained that staff members had a generally unfriendly attitude and were not responsive when problems were reported.

The majority of complaints about this hotel concerned cigarette smoke. Some guests who had requested non smoking rooms were given rooms that smelled of smoke and when they complained were told there were no non smoking rooms available. Many guests said they would not return because of the pervasive smell of cigarette smoke throughout the hotel. Mangement's response to some guest complaints was that the hotel had to accommodate smokers and non smokers alike.

The renovations taking place at Days Inn New Haven are long overdue according to some guests. Complaints included noisy bathroom plumbing, thin walls with inadequate insulation and TVs that were past their prime.
