While this motel received a number of negative reviews, some guests found it acceptable for a night or two and described the beds as comfortable, others thought that for a no frills place it represented decent value.

With easy access to I-80 the Days Inn West Branch was convenient for guests wanting an overnight stop before traveling on. The hotel's proximity to the University of Iowa and Hoover Museum was a plus for others.

Free breakfast is always a plus for some guests, throw in waffles and the deal is sealed.

Guests had a number of complaints about the overall cleanliness of this hotel. Issues included stained and discolored sheets and towels, poorly cleaned toilets and dusty and sticky surfaces. Some guests who stayed more than one night said their rooms were not made up the next day, others said they never saw housekeeping staff at all.

Days Inn West Branch is an older property and, as many guests noted, is currently being renovated; for some guests this was no excuse and they reported numerous problems including thin mattresses, poor plumbing, worn and stained furniture and flimsy door locks. A few guests said their experience at this motel has soured them on the entire Days Inn chain, others recommended driving on.

While a few guests described the staff as friendly and efficient, others found them inattentive and not inclined to help. Some guests said that problems were difficult to resolve because phones at the reception desk went unanswered and management was nowhere to be found.
