Positive Reviews
positive:
Convenient location
While the hotel is a little to the south of central Sulphur, the fact that it was right by the highway was a major benefit to guests. They said that it made it very easy to find the hotel initially, and was also convenient for when they headed off for the day.
positive:
Terrific staff
It was hard to find an unkind word written about the staff. Guests felt that they were very engaged and more than willing to assist them with their queries or issues. Some staff made such an impact that they were mentioned, and praised, by name in the reviews.
positive:
Bed very comfy
Unusually for a hotel's reviews, there only seemed to be praise for the beds. It seems that the hotel has done the (near) impossible by selecting a mattress with very broad appeal.
Negative Reviews
negative:
Carpets are very dirty
While guests didn't have a lot of good things to say abut the cleanliness of the hotel in general, the harshest criticism was directed at the carpets. They were said to be both dirty and in very poor condition, with guests believing that they should long since have been replaced.
negative:
Décor looking very tired
This was one of the more common criticisms. Guests felt that the décor was not only out of date, but also that the faded fabrics, chips, dents and so on had accumulated to such an extent that a major makeover would be required for the hotel to remain competitive.
negative:
Problems with the guest laundry
A couple of guests mentioned that some of the machines in the guest laundry didn't work, either very well or at all. Since they still took their money, which couldn't be refunded by the reception staff, this naturally caused a lot of unhappiness.
