Those who had flights to and from nearby Cairns Airport appreciated the location and the complimentary shuttle service. The shuttle also offers transportation into town which guests appreciated.

Basic but clean and comfortable was the general consensus on this hotel. You could pay more, guests wrote, but why do that when you're just looking for a place to spend a night or two? With complimentary Wi-Fi and breakfast, a swimming pool and fitness centre, this hotel also represented good value to most guests.

Guests described the staff, particularly those in the reception area, as warm and friendly. They mentioned some by name and said all were willing to take the extra step to do whatever was necessary to ensure a pleasant visit.

There were complaints that the hotel was too far from the centre of town, that it was too far to walk to the town shops and restaurants and that this made the location inconvenient for those without a car.

More variety in the breakfast buffet -- which includes scrambled eggs, bacon and cereal -- and better quality food would improve the dining experience guests said.

The hotel is close to train tracks and guests complained about the sounds of cars crossing the tracks during the night and actual trains which run during the day. Guests recommended asking for one of the rooms at the back of the hotel further from the tracks.
