Hotel Coast Inn and Spa (Mendocino, USA)

The location is optimal, on Highway 1 between Fort Bragg and Mendocino, just ten minutes' drive to the beach and a half mile from the Mendocino Coast Botanical Gardens. (Ask the owner about discount tickets to the gardens) There are pet-friendly accommodations and an area for walking dogs. Plenty of options for the health-conscious guest including vegan treats in the organic cafe, products, and services in the spa and healing center. Relax in the hot tub after a day of exploring Fort Bragg or throw in a load of laundry and watch some television over drinks from the vending machines.

The owner has an original flair for design with each room bearing an intriguing touch and attention to detail. Some units are more spacious than others. Very clean.

The owner and staff are friendly and helpful throughout your stay. You are sure to find all the information you need if you ask them about the area's attractions! Rumor has it the owner makes a special tea and delivers it to the rooms of her favorite guests when she isn't busy - and she also knows some secret diving spots to share!

As an older venue, this spot could use a few upgrades. Rooms smell musty when out of use for a while and need to be aired out upon entering. Some units are damp and bathrooms are small with tiny shower cubicles. Beds are low quality with aging mattresses.

The water takes forever to warm up. Plan on a cold shower or two unless you have all day to wait.

Bring your earplugs. Otherwise, you'll hear every word and movement in the room next door.
