Positive Reviews
positive:
A little like home
The hotel provides all the conveniences of home for those needing an extended stay. The rooms are large and comfortable and the kitchens have utensils and appliances. This is a better choice than a hotel and provides the nice amenities of standard hotel stays.
positive:
A little like family
The staff here is great. They are interested in and concerned about guest pleasure and work hard to deliver what guests request. They are also very helpful and knowledgeable about the immediate area.
positive:
Convenient for travelers
The hotel is an easy on and off the local interstate and is close to markets, restaurants, and other shops. Also, the hotel provides a shuttle to Duke University and other close locations.
Negative Reviews
negative:
Not a hotel stay
Since this is an extended hotel, not a daily chain, the housekeeping service is not regular and will not clean or straighten up rooms on a daily basis. The room may be serviced once a week, depending on the length of the stay. Guests who need sheets, towels, or toiletries will have to ask for those at the front desk.
negative:
Computer issues galore
Many guests experience computer issues that change a pleasant stay into a hassle. Guests are frequently overbooked and downgraded, or double billed, then have to wait for a lengthy refund process.
negative:
A bit dated
The rooms and common areas are a bit dated. Some decor, furniture, and fixtures show signs of wear and this location is not up to the high standards of other Candlewoods in the chain, which have recently been refurbished and upgraded. Plus, the lack of breakfast or a pool is a disappointment to those who rely on those amenities.
