Positive Reviews
positive:
Stunning beachside location.
Perched on the cliff above Praia da Rocha beach, Oriental is ideally situated for a beach break. Away from the main drag with peace and quiet, yet just 500m from the main strip if you're looking for something more lively, the hotel is close to shops, restaurants and a short drive from the marina.
positive:
Wooden stairs to a sandy beach.
Most guests love the hotels outside spaces; gardens are immaculately kept, the clean pool area has plenty of loungers and excellent views- with a bar area serving cocktails and sangria, and the wooden steps down to the beach are the icing on the cake.
positive:
Peaceful, aesthetically pleasing, hotel.
The hotel offers a unique design which many love; modern, yet with some traditional oriental touches. The exterior of the hotel is a world away from the usual chain offering and the décor in the guest rooms matches the oriental theme.
Negative Reviews
negative:
Wi-Fi can be hit and miss.
Some guests have reported experiencing difficulties accessing the Wi-Fi. It is supplied free-of-charge, although you may find yourself wishing you could pay for an upgrade as the service can be patchy, at best.
negative:
Not the best breakfast.
The quality of the breakfast varies; not terribly well-cooked at times and lacking variety. Guests suggest the quality reflects poorly on the, otherwise excellent hotel, and feel it doesn't match the four-star rating it holds.
negative:
Trouble getting parked.
If you have your own, or a hire vehicle, with you during your stay you may find the lack of parking frustrating. There is a hotel car park but, with only a dozen spaces and over 60 rooms, they are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
