Positive Reviews
positive:
Exquisitely renovated architectural gem
The hotel is situated in a complex of renovated 15th century church buildings. Guests praise the renovation as being thoughtful and adding modern necessities, while still retaining many period features and the tranquil convent atmosphere.
positive:
Wonderful location in the old quarter
Despite the large grounds the location is really quite central, with the added bonus of having a commanding view over Segovia. The big three attractions of the aqueduct, the cathedral and the Alcazar de Segovia are all within walking distance. Also, many parents stay here when enrolling their children in the very nearby IE University.
positive:
Large rooms
Many guests are pleasantly surprised by the size of the rooms, considering them bigger than they are used to. This is particularly useful for families and others who may have extra people in their room.
Negative Reviews
negative:
Disjointed buildings
The hotel, spa and restaurant are in three separate buildings on the hotel grounds. Comments have been made that this can be a problem in foul weather, and that for some it just seems a bit disjointed.
negative:
Expensive fee to access the pool and spa
Guests do not complain so much about the cost of the spa per se, but the fact that in order to access the pool, even on a sweltering day, you must pay for access to the whole spa.
negative:
Limited casual dining options
While the renowned, and on-site, Villena Restaurant gets high marks, there seems to be a lack of on-site options for casual and lighter fare. Guests feel they need to go outside the hotel for this type of dining.
