Base Taupo is a hostel in Taupo, New Zealand. Located in the town centre, the hostel is close to Lake Taupo’s Tapuaeharuru Bay and the beaches which line its shore. Base Taupo is also close to the town’s many shopping and dining establishments. The hostel itself offers a choice between shared and private accommodation, with double and twin private rooms and four or six bed dorms available. Additionally, dorms are split into mixed and female only accommodation. All private rooms are ensuite, as are some dorms. Private rooms also feature a television. The hostel has an on site bar, known as the “Element Bar”, which is open seven nights a week and has a rooftop sun deck. All guests also have access to a fully equipped kitchen, laundry facilities and a TV room. Weekly barbecue nights are organised and an all you can eat continental breakfast is available at an additional cost. There is a travel desk next to the main reception for advice on local attractions and help with onward travel. Base Taupo is 5 kilometres from the airport and several bus services stop nearby.
