Positive Reviews
positive:
A great base for exploring the Hudson valley..
Many guests describe the hotel's location along Route 9 as very convenient for visiting the Walkway Over the Hudson, FDR Presidential Library, Vanderbilt Mansion, Huguenot Street, Vassar Art Center, or Rhinebeck. Foodies note that there are many fine restaurants in Poughkeepsie, just 5 minutes down the road, and the Culinary Institute of America is a 10-15 min drive.
positive:
Warm and welcoming staff..
The front desk staff have received many rave reviews for their friendly, knowledgeable, and professional customer service. Guests note that they cheerfully recommend restaurants, make sight-seeing suggestions, and accommodate special requests whenever possible. The coffee and cookies in the lobby are very well appreciated, too.
positive:
Great beds and breakfast..
Guests generally describe the rooms as very clean and well maintained, and many enjoy a great night's sleep in a comfortable bed. Many travelers appreciate the convenience of in-room microwaves and mini fridges, and several also comment on the showers, noting the water pressure is strong and the water heats up quickly.
Negative Reviews
negative:
A little behind the times..
Though many guests describe the rooms as very clean and comfortable, many also find the decor a bit dated. The carpets and soft furnishings are showing some wear, and several guests have described the air conditioning as a noisy or "musty" in operation.
negative:
Not the best fit for the fit..
Active travelers note that the fitness room is small and fairly basic. The outdoor swimming pool seems to be unheated, and the shallow end is divided from the deep so it is not possible to swim laps.
negative:
A bit crowded at breakfast..
Though many guests enjoy the complimentary breakfast, some do leave hungry, either because they can't find a spot to sit or aren't tempted by any of the available options.
