Positive Reviews
positive:
Convenient location
Although a small number of guests found the hotel's immediate surrounding left little to be desired, most found the location convenient. At least some of the city's attractions are within walking distance and others are within a few miles. There are plenty of restaurants nearby and cultural hotspots such as the Brewery District and the German Village are just six blocks away.
positive:
Friendly staff
The majority of guests find the standard of service is good, often describing the staff as friendly and cheerful. Many reviews suggest that guests are allowed to check-in earlier at no extra cost (assuming availability). Plus, the staff is happy to help out with local area info and tips about where to eat.
positive:
Some renovated rooms
This hotel is undergoing a complete renovation. While some reviews still refer to the rooms and suites as dated, those guests who were allocated a refurbished room were pleased by the standard of the decor and the quality of the amenities. Presumably, all rooms will soon offer the same standards. And, in the meantime, disruption appears minimal.
Negative Reviews
negative:
Worn communal areas
The communal areas of this hotel appear to look very dated, with guests reporting issues such as tatty decor, old vending machines, and a banged up elevator. Presumably, these issues will be addressed during the renovation.
negative:
Minimal free perks
Although the room rates appear reasonable, guests dislike having to pay extra for parking and breakfast. Some guests appear to confuse this hotel with a Holiday Inn Extra property, which typically do offer these facilities free of charge.
negative:
Some noise issues
A number of guests describe this hotel as noisy, both as a result of street noise and sounds coming from within the property. It seems that better soundproofing, especially between adjacent rooms, would address this problem.
